Kenneth W. Gordon

Ken Gordon has been practicing law in Rochester for more than twenty years and has served as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for the US Department of Justice since 1996. As a Trustee, Mr. Gordon has supervised the administration of thousands of cases and prosecuted hundreds of adversary proceedings. In addition, Mr. Gordon regularly represents both debtors and creditors in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 cases.

Mr. Gordon has extensive litigation experience in state and federal trial and appeals courts across New York State.  He is admitted to practice in New York State, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Federal District Courts for the Western and Northern Districts of New York.

Mr. Gordon has an active real estate practice and has helped many families and individuals buy and sell homes.  Mr. Gordon has also worked closely with many businesses in the formation of corporations and acquistion and sale of assets.  Mr. Gordon has for years worked with many health care professionals on partnership and employment issues and presents annually at the third year residents retreat at Rochester General Hospital on employment contract issues.

Mr. Gordon is past co-chair of the Monroe County Bar Association’s Bankruptcy Committee, and he has moderated and chaired many CLE programs for the state and local bar.   He has been appointed by the President of the Monroe County Bar Association to serve on the Fee Arbitration committee where he mediates and arbitrates fee disputes between lawyers and their clients.  Mr. Gordon has also served as an arbitrator in Rochester City Court.

Mr. Gordon is a past councilman on the Brighton Town Board and currently serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Brighton Ambulance where he also volunteers as an Emergency Medical Technician.  

Mr. Gordon graduated cum laude from Albany Law School in 1986 and clerked for two years at the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department. kgordon@gordonandschaal.com

Deborah Kall Schaal

Deborah Kall Schaal is a partner at Gordon and Schaal LLP.   She specializes in the practice of bankruptcy law, representing both creditors and debtors in Chapter 7 and 13  matters. She also has an active real estate practice. She is admitted to practice law in the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York. Ms. Schaal is a past co-chair of the Monroe County Bar Association's bankruptcy committee,  and past board member of the Greater Rochester Association of Women  Attorneys.   She has lectured at numerous Continuing Legal Education seminars for the Monroe County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association on various bankruptcy topics.   She received her bachelor's degree in business management with distinction from Cornell  University in 1988, and graduated cum laude from Cornell Law School in 1991.
